Had a great walk in North Yorkshire! Long-time hiking/canoeing buddy, Charlie, had to cancel due to a hurricane headed toward North Carolina. But beautiful weather, and a route from Skipton north through Swaledale and Wensleydale, made up for the disappointment of a solo trip. Loved the walk from Cray to Askrigg and sidetrips to see the Ribblehead. Viaduct. Look forward to returning with Pam.

The new equipment available for reducing the weight of your backpack and clothing has made a tremendous difference. My goal is to get my base pack at 15 pounds and under 25 lbs including food and water for a 4 day trip. Andrew Skurka, the guru of "golite" has been my guide on this one. See andrewskurka.com
I have a permit for hiking Hermit Trail to Tonto Trail and then up Bright Angel. It is a four-day, three-night trip, planned for early May. Has anyone hiked part or all of this route?
